The last 3 days

July 13th, 2017 · 42 Comments · General News

The children in 5D have had a great last three days. Most of them enjoyed three days at Robinwood, whilst those who stayed in school took part in some great arts and crafts activities.

Please leave me a comment below telling me what you’ve been up to over the last three days, what you enjoyed most and what you’ve learned about yourself!

During Spring 1, our topic was called City of the Future. In this topic we learned about recycling, pollution and renewable energy. We used the app Explain Everything to create presentations on the different types of renewable energy. Here are some examples of our presentations below.

Eggnaut Eggstravaganza! By Hassan and Kodi

February 16th, 2017 · No Comments · General News

We were all given 4 long straws, a piece of card, an egg and 4 pieces of string(30cm long.) With the piece of card and the pieces of strings we made the parachute because earlier in the year we tested out which material is the best for a parachute and it was card. With the four straws we made a capsule and the egg was our astronaut. The capsule had a base of 6 straws .

Results

Unluckily, our group’s capsule broke and the egg cracked. We did this investigation just to see if the egg survived. First we got our capsule and then it was dropped from a height of 2 meters(200cm.) Finally, we checked if our egg survived or not.

Variables

The dependent variable is to see if the egg has survived or not. The extraneous variable is the wind. The extraneous variable means the things we can’t control.

If we did this experiment again we would put the straws around the egg and put lots of tape around it so that it is more secure. We would also drop it from a different height such as 10 meters(1,000.)

Agony Aunt Letter by Kian

February 16th, 2017 · No Comments · General News

from Tomahawk Beckwourth

Dear Agony Aunt,

I need some advice. My life has been horrible, painful and terrifying. During the last sixty years I have fought my way through some of Americas wildest and most thrilling times in history. It all started when one day I was riding on my horse to my friend’s house. What I saw next was truly horrifying. I looked through the gate to find my friend and his family lifeless on the ground. The thing that scared me the most was was that my friend and his family we’re scalped! This is what started off all the horrifying things that happened to me during my life. Please help me forget the loss of my friend.

After that incident I grew up and left home to get a job. I became a blacksmith. I planned to stay there for a while. But one day I was late. My boss started shouting at me. So I shouted back. Before I knew it we were throwing punches. I soon got the better of him (of course). But if he told anyone I knew I would be arrested. So I hid on a boat and went down the fever river. Please help me for get the two crimes I committed that day.

Kian’s Mystery Story Build-Up

November 22nd, 2016 · No Comments · General News

As I reached for the door, I thought what was behind it. I pulled my hand back, as an eerie noise came from the door – it was opening. The room was empty. I walked in.’Im hearing things,’ I thought. I turned around, the door was gone. I froze, as I felt a hand on my shoulder. “Turn around,” an old voice spat in a hissing sound…
